Karanam Manoj
Software Engineer with 1.5+ years managing enterprise applications, Linux/Windows infrastructure, and deployments at Applied Materials (via ASM Technologies). I keep production stable — and automate the parts that shouldn't need a human.
What I do
I administer 50+ enterprise applications across Development, QA, UAT, and Production, on top of 30+ Linux servers and 30+ Windows servers — keeping business-critical platforms running at Applied Materials.
Day to day, that means running 20+ deployments a month through a mix of methods — Jenkins, Databricks, VS Code, and manual server-level deployments — plus managing SSL certificate renewals and service-account password rotations, troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues, supporting developers through releases, and doing root cause analysis when something breaks (not just restarting it).
The work I'm proudest of is the automation. Using Python and other scripting, built with the help of Claude Code and AI-assisted development, I've automated monthly server reboots, weekly application restarts, SSL renewals, password rotation, and log management — which cut manual operational effort by 60% and removed entire categories of repetitive work from the team's plate.
The path so far
Current role, in detail
- Administer 50+ enterprise applications across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
- Support and maintain 30+ Linux servers and 30+ Windows servers.
- Perform 20+ production and non-production deployments every month across Jenkins, Databricks, VS Code, and manual server-level deployments.
- Manage SSL certificate renewals and service-account password rotations.
- Administer Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, and JBoss across Linux and Windows.
- Conduct root cause analysis, drive incident management, and implement preventive fixes.
- Support developers through releases and high-priority production incidents.
- Designed automation using Python and other scripting — built with Claude Code and AI-assisted development — for monthly server reboots, weekly application restarts, SSL renewals, password rotation, and log rotation/retention.
- Result: 60% reduction in manual operational effort, eliminated repetitive admin tasks, improved deployment reliability, and generated measurable cost savings.
